EAA Futures Softball is designed to introduce young athletes to the game in a fun, supportive, and development-focused environment. Players start practices in April and compete in the Two Rivers Softball League through the end of June, gaining valuable experience while learning the fundamentals of hitting, fielding, and teamwork. With a consistent weekly field practice and optional indoor sessions, athletes build skills and confidence while forming friendships with teammates from their neighborhood and school community.
Unlike competitive select softball programs—which require tryouts, travel tournaments, and a significant time commitment—Futures Softball focuses on inclusion, development, and local play. There are no tryouts, and every child gets the chance to participate, learn, and grow at their own pace. This recreational program is ideal for families seeking an affordable, community-based introduction to softball before deciding whether to explore more competitive opportunities in the future.

Our Futures recreational teams participate in the Two Rivers Softball League, offering a fun and development-focused season for young athletes. Practices begin in April, with games starting in April or May depending on the division, and the season runs through the end of June. Each team has a weekly one-hour field practice, along with additional indoor practice sessions in April to help players build skills and confidence. Families are also encouraged to utilize local parks or green spaces for extra practice time.
Home games are typically scheduled on Saturdays and/or Sundays, while away games depend on the availability of host fields. Practice and game days may vary by team, and while we aim to provide consistent schedules, we cannot guarantee specific days for every practice or game. This flexible approach ensures that all players get the opportunity to participate, learn, and enjoy the game throughout the season.
We’re proud to host 19 area organizations as part of the Two Rivers Softball League:

For athletes who are ready to take their skills to the next level, the Nebraska Quakes select program offers a more competitive softball experience. Unlike the recreational Futures program, Quakes teams compete in higher-level leagues and tournaments, providing opportunities to challenge athletes, refine advanced techniques, and gain exposure to college and club-level play. Practices are more frequent and focused, emphasizing skill development, strategy, and teamwork in a fast-paced, performance-oriented environment.
Parents can consider the Quakes program when their athlete demonstrates a strong understanding of the game, a commitment to practice, and a desire to compete at a higher level. While the schedule and expectations are more demanding, many families find it rewarding to watch their child grow both as a player and as a teammate. The Quakes program complements the foundation built in Futures Softball, giving athletes a pathway to continue their growth while enjoying the excitement of competitive play.
