All tryouts will be held at the FIB SportsPlex (26001 Ida St. Valley NE 68064).

2017-2013 (10U-13U) TRYOUTS

👉 Players trying out for these age groups can be selected for a Roots I, II or III (if applicable) team.
👉 Players MUST tryout in their own birth year, but may also tryout in the age group above.
👉 If a player is not selected for a team, they are encouraged to work on their skills by joining our EAA Futures program - our grassroots soccer program for 10U-19U players.

Cost to register for tryouts is $20. Please register for tryouts prior to attending.

Tryouts - What to Expect:

The coaches assigned to each age group will work together to train and evaluate all of the players who attend. Club directors also participate in the evaluation process. The tryout sessions conducted by our staff will be similar to those they will normally run with their teams so players can get a feel for the style of training and coaching that will take place in our club.

The coaches will evaluate the players using the following criteria:
1. Technical: dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting/finishing and individual defending
2. Tactical: reading the game, teammates, opponents, space (perception); ability to make quick and proper decisions during the run of play
3. Psychological: mental toughness, competitiveness, concentration, composure, attitude, work ethic
4. Physical: speed, athleticism, fitness, strength

The coaches will also make selections based on how they feel players will fit into the team/club culture. They will also consider each player’s potential to develop under their coaching.

What do we do if we miss the tryout window?
Reach out to the coaches assigned to your athlete's age group to arrange for another opportunity to tryout. All coaches have EAA email accounts (firstnamelastname@elkhornathletics.org).

Will we need to purchase new uniforms for this season?
Yes - all Nebraska Roots players will be required to purchase the *new* full uniform kit. We will start a new uniform cycle for the 2025-2026 soccer year. This kit will be on a 2 year cycle like all previous kits.

What are the Nebraska Roots REGISTRATION fees for 2025-2026?
- 10U-15U: $1,750
- 15U-19U (players in high school): $1,450

🚩There will be an additional $100 on all registrations that goes directly to Team Fees. Each team is responsible for collecting additional fees from every player on the team that goes towards event registrations, coach travel, team needs and other items. The coach and team manager are responsible for communicating those needs with each team member and family. These team needs will vary from team to team so while some teams will not need to collect anything further, others will.

What do my REGISTRATION fees cover?
Coaching and director fees, insurance, indoor (The Greenhouse) and outdoor facilities (JPM and FIB), league fees, NSSA membership fees including background checks, Safesport and concussion training, winter training, equipment, office staff, referees and HUDL subscriptions.
