MYFL: Metro vs Legacy Divisions (4th - 8th grade)
Metro: While coaches strive for equal playing time to maximize development, some teams or situations may require adjustments to ensure all players receive adequate instruction during practice and game experience.
Legacy: Playing time is often based on performance, skill level, and commitment, reflecting the more competitive nature of this division. While development is still important, the focus shifts towards maximizing the team's potential. For the 2026 season, EAA will host a player evaluation: some teams may hold evaluations to ensure players possess the necessary skills and experience for this competitive environment.
Other thoughts to choose the best fit for your athlete:
-
Parent's expectations: Align your expectations with the goals of the division and/or the coach you plan to play with.
-
Coach's philosophy: Research the coaching staff's approach to player development and game strategy.
Ultimately, the best division for your child depends on their individual needs and preferences. It's important to choose a division that will provide a positive and enjoyable experience.
