EAA Select Youth Basketball - Elkhorn Youth Basketball

Nebraska Impact, Elkhorn’s elite select basketball program, is built for athletes who are ready to take their game to the next level. Designed for dedicated players who want to sharpen their skills and compete at the highest level, Impact offers advanced training, top-level coaching, and a commitment to developing complete athletes. Practices focus on elevating individual abilities while emphasizing team play, discipline, and basketball IQ. Every athlete is challenged to push themselves on and off the court, preparing them not only for competitive play but also for long-term success in the sport.

Impact teams compete in high-level tournaments across the region and beyond, giving players the chance to face strong competition and measure their growth against some of the best. More than just about winning games, the program is rooted in building high-character teammates who understand the value of commitment, accountability, and unity. With Nebraska Impact, athletes gain the experience, training, and competitive edge needed to pursue their basketball goals while being part of one of Omaha’s premier youth programs.

  • NOT READY FOR IMPACT?

Nebraska Impact basketball features teams that compete at the gold, silver, and bronze levels in both league and tournament play. Teams are formed through a tryout process, based either on individual skill level or on pre-existing teams. Tryouts are typically held in late February or early March. Once teams are set, they have the opportunity to play in seasonal leagues (Fall and Winter) such as the Conqueror Basketball League or OSA, as well as in tournament competition. Coaches will work with their teams to determine the leagues and tournaments that provide the best fit and experience for their players.

All students entering 3rd through 8th grade are welcome to try out for Nebraska Impact. Participation is not limited to Elkhorn Public Schools, as EAA’s mission is to serve youth and families across the community. While athletes outside the Elkhorn school district are eligible, the goal is for each team to be made up of at least 50% Elkhorn students, keeping the program rooted in its local foundation while still welcoming a broader reach of talent.

We’re proud to provide a variety of camps and clinics throughout the year designed to support player skill development and growth. New opportunities are added as they are finalized, so be sure to check back regularly for the latest updates and registration details.

Tryout information and registration will be posted here when details are finalized to kick-off prep for the 2026-2027 season.

The EAA Futures Basketball is a recreational program that gives young athletes a clear path to grow in the game while learning the value of teamwork, effort, and fun. It begins with Jr. Futures, a four-week program created for 4- and 5-year-olds who are just being introduced to basketball. Jr. Futures focuses on the very basics such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and movement while providing a positive, welcoming environment that helps kids build confidence and excitement for the sport.

From there, players can continue in Futures, our recreational program for boys and girls in kindergarten through 4th grade. Futures emphasizes learning the game the right way by teaching fundamental skills, introducing team play, and fostering sportsmanship. The program provides young athletes with valuable game experience while keeping the focus on development and fun.

For athletes in 5th and 6th grade, Futures Plus serves as the next step and offers a higher level of competition for players who are not yet ready for Nebraska Impact, EAA’s elite select basketball program. Futures Plus bridges the gap between recreational play and select competition by giving athletes the chance to sharpen their skills, learn advanced concepts, and prepare for future opportunities. Together, these programs make EAA Futures Basketball the perfect place for every young athlete to find their place on the court.

HOW ARE NEBRASKA IMPACT TEAMS FORMED?

Each spring, tryouts are held to determine the coming season’s Nebraska Impact teams for the following Fall/Winter season.

CAN I MAKE TEAMMATE/COACH REQUESTS DURING REGISTRATION?

First, THANK YOU! Every youth sports program depends on the spirit and energy of volunteers. You will have an opportunity to indicate you are willing to volunteer as a head or assistant coach when you register your child.  All volunteer coaches are required to successfully complete all EAA coaching requirements prior to receiving their team roster and coaching their team at practice and games- no exceptions.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I WOULD LIKE TO COACH?

First and foremost, thank you! We are thrilled when parents and community members express interest in coaching, because volunteers like you are the heart of our programs. Coaching is one of the most rewarding ways to make an impact, and we truly value those who are willing to step up and support young athletes.

At Nebraska Impact, we are always looking for dedicated coaches who want to help players grow on and off the court. Anyone willing to coach and able to pass a thorough background check will be considered, and we welcome all inquiries from parents who want to get involved. Your passion, energy, and commitment could make a lasting difference in the lives of our athletes, and we’d love to have you join the EAA coaching community.

WHEN WILL I FIND OUT WHICH TEAM MY CHILD IS ON?

Following the completion of tryouts, we encourage coaches to send out team offers within 48 hours. While our goal is to communicate with all participants, whether or not they are selected, as quickly as possible, delays can occur. Various factors may impact a coach’s ability to finalize rosters within that window, and we appreciate your patience during this process.

WHEN WILL MY CHILD'S TEAM PRACTICE?

Each team’s training schedule will be determined by the coach prior to each season.

HOW DO I FIND OUT PRACTICE AND GAME STATUS WHEN SEVERE WEATHER IS POSSIBLE?
  • Your athlete’s coach will be responsible for communicating any changes in schedule for any reason.
